Doom Deck
Four screens. Doom on the main display; health, weapons and mission stats on the round displays.
Choose your build
- V2 · USB Access — the new default. Regular key spacing, removable switch holders and a passage for the main screen’s USB cable. Print and assembly guide.
- V1 · Original — the filmed design. Kept for existing builds; USB clearance is tight with switches fitted. Print guide.
Both sets are in this ZIP. Keep each version’s parts together. V2 has passed CAD and slicer checks; its revised assembly still needs a physical fit test. Print its small fit-check first.
Set up once
- Follow SETUP.md, then double-click Setup PC.cmd. It downloads the pinned sources and dependencies, obtains the original shareware episode, and builds the game locally.
- Install the four boards’ firmware using FIRMWARE.md. Use your own boards’ addresses; setup generates their private wireless credentials.
- V2 is selected by default. If building V1, open Choose model.cmd once. This sets the correct main-screen orientation.
An agent can follow AGENTS.md from this extracted folder.
Connect and play
Connect the large screen’s USB port to the PC with a data cable. Power the three round displays through their USB ports. Their stats travel over the P4’s private Wi-Fi; the PC keeps its normal network.
- Play on PC.cmd — a normal Doom window with keyboard and mouse, mirrored to the deck. Keep the game window open and unminimized.
- Play on Stand.cmd — direct game frames, no game window. Connect an SDL-compatible controller to the PC. The PC still runs the game and plays the sound.
Close Doom or the launcher window to stop. Reconnecting the P4 restarts the display link automatically.
Keyboard: WASD move, mouse aim/fire, E use. Controller: left stick move, right stick turn, RT fire, B use, LT run, LB/RB weapon, Y map, Start menu, A confirm. Controller support is implemented; a physical controller test is still outstanding for this release.
For direct frames with a PC window, run ./Start-Doom.ps1 -Direct -ShowWindow. For a controller in the ordinary PC view, use ./Start-Doom.ps1 -Controller.
The eight panel keys are not mapped to game actions in this release. The print includes their holders; key wiring and input firmware remain a separate step. Gameplay uses the PC keyboard/mouse or controller.
Hardware and files
One Waveshare ESP32-P4-WIFI6-Touch-LCD-5, rev3.x, and three ESP32-S3-Touch-AMOLED-1.75 (not 1.75C). Windows x64. Use USB TO UART only for programming the P4.
prints/ contains millimetre STL files, oriented for printing at 100%. experiments/ contains the display/host source. source-changes.json applies our engine and P4 changes to pinned upstream commits. No WAD, artwork, third-party binary or private credentials are bundled. See NOTICES.md.
